Monument to Colonial Amnesia

As I type this, or while you read, information travels in 0s and 1s, changing from radio waves to light and electrical signals — through the walls, the air, and across thousands of kilometres of ocean floor. The link is more physical, if not tangible, than one might believe. The nebula of information, experience, and interaction implodes to light up our screens. This unprecedented experience of collapsed space and time is what Monument to Colonial Amnesia relies upon — to alter and subvert parts of one of many perceived realities of the day.

This work was produced during In Search of New Names, a workshop by Bani Abidi and Priya Sen as part of Experimenter Kolkata's Learning Programme. Each participant was paired with a partner from a different geographical location and asked to produce a short video based on the other's city.
